DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

The Development Director’s specific responsibilities include:
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning
- Lead development and implementation of A New Policy’s fundraising strategy
- Work with leadership and staff to prepare project-based funding proposals
- Record, monitor, assess and report fundraising results
Fundraising
Major Donors
- Maintain existing relationships and cultivate new relationships with major donors
- Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, steward, and thank major gift donors.
- Leverage data and other technological resources to identify opportunities for new donor relationships
- Maintain and regularly update a database of existing and potential donors
Events
- Design and manage fundraising campaigns, including annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving initiatives.
- Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events to maximize engagement and revenue.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling campaign materials for events.
- Plan and execute fundraising events
- Represent A New Policy at fundraising events
Grants
- Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with A New Policy’s priorities.
- Prepare grant proposals, and oversee grant proposal writing and reporting to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
- Maintain grants calendar and records in coordination with the finance team.
Communications
- Oversee production of fundraising materials, including informational packets and presentations in coordination with the executive team and marketing team.
- Oversee fundraising communications, including direct mail and email appeals, website appeals and acknowledgement letters in coordination with the marketing team.
- Ensure that materials and communications align with A New Policy’s overall messaging.
Management
- Develop an efficient and effective development team, including staff, interns and volunteers.
- Oversee the work of volunteer fundraisers.
- Support board member solicitation efforts, including recommending fundraising practices and identifying new board candidates.
- Oversee the management of donor databases to ensure accurate records and reporting.
- Analyze fundraising data to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and inform future activities.
Budget
- Support A New Policy’s strategic growth and budget development.
- Track fundraising metrics and provide regular reports to the executive team and board of directors.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Five or more years of development and/or fundraising experience in the corporate or non-profit sectors
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree desirable
- Ability to manage staff and budgets
- Knowledge of the situation in Israel-Palestine and U.S. policy toward the Middle East
- Commitment to human rights and a new U.S. policy toward the Middle East
- Excellent public speaking ability
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including an outgoing personality
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
- Experience with fundraising databases and/or customer relationship management (CRM) tools
- Ability to travel periodically
COMPENSATION
Salary (commensurate with experience), health and dental insurance, and five (5) weeks annual vacation.
