BACKGROUND

Right now, Congress is finalizing its annual defense bill, which has a record $1.15 trillion price tag. Buried inside is a provision (Section 219) that would integrate America’s defense industry with Israel’s. The House approved it in July, even as public opinion of Israel hits record lows and Americans struggle with rising costs.

The good news? It’s not law yet. A small group of negotiators (called “conferees”) from the House and Senate is now writing the final bill and deciding what gets cut. Representatives Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY) are asking other Members to sign a letter urging conferees to drop Section 219 from the final bill.
